Terms
Be a teacher in good faith. We’ll be a good tool.
Last updated: May 2026 · v1 (alpha)
These are the terms of using Greta. Plain English first. If you sign up, you agree to these.
Who can use Greta
- You must be 18 or older.
- You must be a current or former classroom teacher, instructional aide, learning support specialist, or similar role. Greta isn’t built for non-educators and we’ll cancel and refund accounts that aren’t.
- One human, one account. Don’t share logins.
What you’re paying for
- Monthly: $20 per month, charged in advance, cancel anytime.
- Annual: $200 per year, charged in advance, cancel anytime (refund policy below).
- Includes unlimited daily voice memos, drafts, and kid cards.
- Voice conversation feature: 30 minutes per month included, $0.20 per minute after.
Prices may change. If they do, we’ll email you 30 days in advance and you can cancel before the new price takes effect.
Refunds
- Monthly: cancel anytime. We don’t prorate, but the next charge stops.
- Annual: full refund within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. After 30 days, email us — we’ll usually prorate.
- If Greta is materially broken for more than 24 hours, email us and we’ll credit or refund the affected period.
Your data, your rights
You own everything you put in Greta — your notes, voice memos, drafts, kid cards. We claim no ownership and no license to use it beyond running Greta for you. See the Privacy page for details.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Greta to:
- Store official student records (grades, attendance, IEPs, disciplinary files) — those belong in your district’s SIS or special education platform. See our FERPA page.
- Store information about anyone other than your own students and their families.
- Send harassing, threatening, or deceptive communications using Greta-generated drafts.
- Reverse-engineer the app, scrape the AI responses, or attempt to extract Anthropic’s model weights.
- Resell or sublicense access to Greta.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. We’ll refund any unused prepaid time unless the violation involves harm to children, in which case we’ll notify the appropriate authorities.
What Greta isn’t
- Not a counselor, therapist, or licensed mental health professional. If a student is in crisis, follow your school’s protocol — Greta is not a substitute for a real person.
- Not a legal advisor on FERPA, IDEA, or your state’s student privacy laws. We’ll tell you what we know, but don’t treat us as your district’s counsel.
- Not a contracted school system. Districts haven’t signed agreements with us. Greta is your personal subscription.
AI outputs
Greta uses large language models (Claude, by Anthropic) to draft emails, summaries, and other artifacts. These models are excellent but not infallible.
- You are responsible for reviewing every draft before it leaves Greta.
- Greta drafts; you send. We don’t auto-send anything.
- If Greta hallucinates a fact about a student, that’s on us to fix and on you to catch in review. Tell us and we’ll improve the prompts.
Service availability
We aim for 99.5% uptime. We’re a small team — not 24/7 enterprise on-call. If something is broken, email hello@teachgreta.com and we’ll respond as fast as we can. Status page: coming soon.
Liability
We provide Greta “as is.” To the extent allowed by law, we’re not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to Greta is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior. None of this limits liability for things the law says can’t be limited (gross negligence, fraud, etc.).
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material, we’ll email you 30 days in advance. Continuing to use Greta after the change date counts as accepting the new terms. If you don’t agree, cancel before the change date and we’ll refund any unused prepaid time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [TODO: pick state — Delaware or California typical]. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located there.
